Trouz Bras CD cover

Trouz Bras and Friends
Celtic Music from Brittany

Trouz Bras (pronounced “Trooz Brazz”) means "Big Noise" in the Celtic language of Brittany, the northwestern region of France. It also translates as “Great Sound” – a reference to the loud Breton bagpipes that fuel the band’s driving sound. Firmly rooted in the trance-like medieval spiral dances of Brittany, Trouz Bras catapults traditional Breton dance tunes into the 21st century with blistering bagpipes, soaring fiddle and a rocking rhythm section. Led by bagpiper and vocalist Ray Price, a globetrotting expert in Breton music and dance, this CD also features Barry Hall on fiddle, vielle, bouzouki and vocals, Matthew Brown on bass and Mance Grady on bodhrán and percussion. The CD includes tracks by the band as well as contributions by each of its members performing with other guest artists. The result is a high-energy collection of Celtic music from Brittany, France and Ireland.

The Eternal Presence

The Eternal Presence brings together four didjeridu virtuosos from around the globe (Rafael Bejarano, Jusse Nayeli, Barry Hall and Alan Tower) to perform new compositions in a remarkable natural setting - a richly reverberant stone tunnel perched high above the Pacific Ocean. Transformed by the dense quiet of the night into a cathedral-like chamber for sacred sound, the tunnel becomes one of the players, contributing a powerful resonance that shapes every note of the performance. The resulting CD is an extended, continuous cycle of eleven interwoven compositions that takes the listener on a journey through landscapes that are ethereal, introspective and invigorating. This makes it an ideal accompaniment for meditation and "deep listening", as well as a wonderful tool to enhance yoga, massage or other body and healing work. Burnt Earth CD

Terra Cotta
The Burnt Earth Ensemble

The Burnt Earth Ensemble performs music exclusively on ceramic musical instruments. This CD captures many facets of the sounds of clay in an evocative collection of the ensemble’s original music, with influences drawn from jazz, medieval, Celtic, African and Native American styles. From the haunting, ethereal flute melodies of “Pangea” to the raucous fiddle and drums of “Siberian Hoedown”, the Burnt Earth ensemble coaxes imaginative sounds and heart-felt music from the material of the Earth herself. The ensemble’s array of clay instruments ranges from the ordinary to the exotic, including flutes, ocarinas, fiddles, doumbeks, udu drums, didjeridus, nose flutes, and globular horns. 19 tracks, over 71 minutes of clay. Features Barry Hall, Richard Smith, Beth Hall, Geoff Brown and guest appearances by Stephen Kent, Mark Attebery and Alan Tower. Click here for more information and sound samples.
